This is the man to beat in competition calf roping/ Roy Cooper has been a phenomenon in rodeo since 1976, when he won Rookie of the Year honors for his first season in the PRCA, and earned the calf roping world championship as well. He was the big winner in the event again in 19777 and 1978, and then was world champion calf roper in 1980, 81, 82, and '83. And in 1984 he not only reigned as calf roping champion, but as all-around and steer roping champion ass well- the first man in 25 yaers to win three titles in a single season, He is a four-time average winner in calf roping at the Nationals Rodeo, and won the 50,00 Bonus in calf roping at the 1982 and 1996 Calgary Stampede.
