Thoughts on Hunting

The first edition of this book was published in 1781 and to this day the book remains a standard work on the subject. Peter Beckford's classic was the first serious attempt to lay down the principles and methods of foxhunting and there has been nothing published to rival it since. The book is technical in content yet a delight to read, even for those who know nothing of the subject matter. This edition is reprinted from the second edition with an introduction and notes by J. Otho Paget. It has eight halftone plates and eight illustrations by G.H. Jalland plus a foreword by Michael Clayton, editor of Horse and Hound.
