The Instructor's Handbook

The book – first published in 1955 – has been fully revised and updated to include the requirements for the new UK Coaching Certificate. It explains the general principles of instruction and the practicalities of taking both mounted and dismounted lessons. It covers school movements and exercises, preliminary work over poles, and jumping, as well as preparation for competions. There is advice on road safety, giving lectures, and organising games, quizzes and other activities. Throughout the book the emphasis is on safety and due consideration is given to the special requirements of beginners and the very young. The book is written to be used in conjunction with The Manual of Horsemanship.
