The 62nd running of the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials took place for the very first time over the Easter weekend. Meer info

81 combinations started the dressage phase on the Thursday representing 10 countries with a record 24 riders being first timers. Windy conditions on the first two days made the dressage test even more demanding with Belgium's Karin Donckers leading the way in a tightly packed leader board. The ground conditions were absolutely perfect and the cross country course rode well with 55 completing without jumping penalties, and 16 going inside the time. In the Show Jumping William fox-Pitt and Idalgo put the pressure on the top 3 with an immaculate clear and only Oliver Townend and Flint Curtis could resist his challenge to win their first Badminton title. Eighty one riders from 6 nations set out on the long road to glory over the 4 days, but few would have had any inkling how treacherous that road would be. This was a great Badminton, the standard of dressage was widely regarded as the best ever and Nicolas Touzaint showed why he is a champion as he repelled all comers both across country and in the thrilling show jumping finale. Eventing at the FEI World Equestrian Games in Aken was quite simply the best competition anyone could habe wished for. Fourteen coutries contested the team competition with a further eight sending individual riders. Meer info

Extensive cross country coverage with lots of spills and thrills and a detailed course walk, is sandwiched between dressage, including Nicholson's winning test in full, and show jumping highlights. This was a Badminton that held everyone's attention right to the end. Meer info

This year's event saw 57 of the 81 combinations that set out on the 4 days of competition complete the Sunday afternoon as William Fox-Pitt secured his second Mitsubishi Motors Badminton trophy on Chris Stone's stallion Chilli Morning, 11 years after winning on Tamarillo. Meer info
